1.1: Brightness: This slider specifies the brightness of the Spotlight.
1.2: Cone Angle: This slider specifies the width of the Spotlight beam.
1.3: Show light source: This button shows/hides the Spotlight 3D (lamp/cone) model.
1.4: Night activation: Spotlights set to On will switch on at the same time when the sun gets close to the horizon. Spotlights set to Random will switch on at random times when the sun gets close to the horizon.
1.5: Shadows: Choose one of three shadow types:
- Medium (Static): The shadow from the Spotlight uses a static 512x512 pixel texture which is only updated during the first frame in movies. It is unsuitable if animated objects move through the cone of the Spotlight as the shadow is not updated. It's fast to render and uses a moderate amount of memory.
- High (Static): The shadow from the Spotlight uses a static 1024x1024 pixel texture which is only updated during the first frame in movies. It is unsuitable if animated objects move through the cone of the Spotlight as the shadow is not updated. It's fast to render but uses a lot of memory.
- Dynamic: These shadows are updated every frame. This setting should only be used if objects are moving through the cone of the Spotlight, for example animated people or cars. Each additional Spotlight with Dynamic shadows makes it significantly slower to render images/movies. Each Spotlight uses a 1024x1024 pixel shadow texture.
Important: Please note that shadows from a Spotlight are not displayed all the time for performance reasons. If you render a Photo or a Clip the shadows will be rendered. Click here to see how to preview shadows from Spotlights.
1.6: Target Light(s): Click on a surface that you would like the selected Spotlight(s) to point at.
